Manchester Orchestra are not from Manchester but from Atlanta, Georgia. Makes sense doesn't it. I like a logic when there isn't one, and I love when there is sense in nonsense. Anyway, the band's name is a tribute to this very city in old England which is enriched with great musical history: The Smiths, The Stone Roses, Joy Division, Oasis, New Order, Happy Mondays - just to name a view.
