When Saints Go Machine describe their music as when pop goes electronic. They are from Copenhagen and have just released their debut album. I am not that super duper keen on the video, maybe, but I love the band's name, for obvious reasons. As for the song, goes without saying, once the thing starts playing, you cannot switch it off. What I hate though, and never really will understand, is why the album is buyable on the French iTunes store and not the Swiss one. It makes me want to pull my hair out, actually pull Steve Jobs hair out - if he had any, and send it by fireworks with one big fat bright bang into the cosmos.

.. I never knew I was a Techno Fan! Well, neither did I. The Wombats are the kind of band I would kind of never buy an album but then kind of love their songs whenever I stumble across one. So that's good I guess. Or downright lazy on my behalf. If you check Wikipedia, on the English site, they are an indie pop band. On the German one though, they are an alternative rock one. They might want to replace their translator!

Bon Iver - Calgary

Bon Iver's self titled album was released today a week ago, so I might still be just in time to post this before it's so yesterday. The band's name (I didn't even know it was a band but thought it was a solo artist) is derived from the French phrase bon hiver (French pronunciation: [bɔn‿ivɛːʁ]), meaning "good winter". Sometimes it's worth popping over to Wikipedia, then again, sometimes it's not.

Makes sense, I think.

And: Hold on to your desperation, the pleasure principle at it's very foundation - love it!

Oh I love it and love it and love it. Most of all, the bands name, because I like everything that is running around on four hooves: horses, ponies, cows, zebras, whatever. I Break Horses are Maria Lindén and her musical partner Fredrik Balck, both from Stockholm, Sweden. Then there is the video, which I think is nothing but pure stunningness. I know there is no such thing as such a word, but I think there bloody well should be.

Next chapter in Oz Week is called Cut Copy and they are from Melbourne. Funny that most Australian music acts these days are duos. Anyway, the video looks like something like hipsters olympics. And I thought: there is no such thing as a muscled hipster. Just saying.
