The artist known as Christine and the Queens is a real grownass woman now, according to Héloïse Letissier. Chris, the newly announced LP, channels her stud-femme side while drawing upon her muscular strength and self-possessed machismo. As before, it's with basslines and '80s drum machines that she builds the brute instrumental foundation for her lyrics while she riffs off old-school Jam & Lewis, beats-driven bravado.
