Billie Eilish - Therefore I Am

A: Billie Eilish

S: Therefore I Am

La Eilish released her new song Therefore I Am and the corresponding music video and fans thought it was the singer's way of sending a subtle message to her body shamers and trolls. In the corresponding music video, Eilish could be seen running throughout an empty mall and stopping at a number of fast-food places, including Wetzel's Pretzels, Chipotle, Hot Dog on a Stick and a donuts and coffee shop. Same below.

Bleachers Feat. Bruce Springsteen - chinatown

A: Bleachers Feat. Bruce Springsteen

S: chinatown

Bleachers have returned with fellow New Jerseyan Bruce Springsteen for the new single Chinatown. Directed by Carlotta Kohl, the video for the song features Antonoff wearing a shirt that says: Welcome to New Jersey, now go home. Springsteen appears near the three-minute mark as the duo ride off in a Cadillac down the highway. In addition, the band also dropped the single 45. Both songs will be included on an upcoming album slated for 2021.

A: Lana Del Rey

S: Let Me Love You Like A Woman

Lana Del Rey - Let Me Love You Like A Woman
In this year of crazy constant changes and questioning of about everything we took for granted, it's nice to know that a LDR song still sounds exactly the same as every other Lana song, and I mean that in the nicest, most positive possible way. There's no news on the next album, except that everything we knew about it has been put on hold, just like the record itself. Manage your expectations below.

Icona Pop x SOFI TUKKER - Spa

A: Icona Pop x SOFI TUKKER

S: Spa

Swedish electropop duo Icona Pop is back with a music video for their latest banger Spa with Sofi Tukker, and it’s equal parts hilarious, risqué and infectiously catchy - even if using the word infectious in 2020 might be a bit risky in itself. Same goes for catchy. But this video might just be the best thing that comes out of this year. So. Heading into the second quarantine like below.

... I'm done with the club, just take me to the spa.

A: HAERTS Feat. Ed Droste

S: For the Sky

Your favorite indie-pop duo HAERTS is now splitting its time between New York and Berlin - and has returned with a new single feature Grizzly Bear frontman Ed Droste. Which makes sense, because it starts out sounding kind of like that band’s Shields track Gun-Shy. Fly high below.

Goat Girl - Sad Cowboy

A: Goat Girl

S: Sad Cowboy

Peckham post-punks Goat Girl will release their second album, On All Fours, in January. And the South London quartet are offering an early preview of the album with the release of new single Sad Cowboy. The band’s follow-up to their self-titled 2018 debut album sees the quartet “veer away from the confrontational lyricism of their debut and indicates Goat Girl’s maturing perspectives in discussing the world's injustices and social prejudices, using the music to explore global, humanitarian, environmental and mindful wellbeing,” according to Rough Trade. Saddle up below.

Minimal Schlager - FMB

A: Minimal Schlager

S: FMB

Dry-pulsing beats, hyper-literal lyrics, and ethereal female vocals… it’s hard not to imagine oneself driving down Mulholland when you listen to Minimal Schlager. Fran Parisi develops minimal beats with grinding bass synths; as his sister Alicia whispers, screams and chants on top. Together the music becomes something that blends industrial, psychedelics and confessional storytelling. Gorgeous below.

A: Julia Holter

Recorded after the release of Ekstasis, Holter’s take on Stevie Nicks’ classic adds a celestial layer of lucidity. RIP RBG below.

London Grammar - Baby It's You

A: London Grammar
B:  Baby It's You

London Grammar are back with their new single, Baby It’s You. The three-piece first teased their comeback last month by posting a new band photograph on Instagram and writing: nothing else matters – now revealed to be lyrics from the band’s new single. Their first new music since the 2019 collaboration with Flume, Baby It’s You carries the trio’s familiar atmospherics and some of the more trance-driven elements akin to early single Metal & Dust, but also features a new, more colourful Balearic sound and vibe.

French 79 - Hometown

A: French 79

S:  Hometown

Bonjour amour. French 79, real name Simon Henner has synthwave rhythms dripping with a bass-ridden groove and nostalgic magic. Both the single Hometown and its music video pretty much prove that point in the most pretty way. Even as it bleeps and rumbles with retro '80s sounds, it plays smooth and alluring on the edge of what modern electronic music should be. It's funky, infectious, and it's heavy with meaning for Henner. On adore.

Kylie Minogue - Say Something

A: Kylie Minogue

S: Say Something

This Minogue pretty much out-kylie-d herself with the video for Say Something, and I am all here for it as much as I am relieved the only thing left from her wannabe country area seems to be a deep admiration for horses (same). Keeping with the Disco theme of her new album and song’s lyrics, the visual finds Minogue and her dancers grooving in front of an interstellar backdrop, with the pop singer sometimes delivering the track from atop a horse statue. Lightyears below.

In the video, Peck and Twain perform at a drive-in theater with a movie projected in the background, perhaps a reference to the current trend of drive-in concerts associated with the Covid-19 pandemic. Stay home below.

Billie Eilish - my future

A: Billie Eilish

S: my future

Pandemics don’t discriminate, so as the world shut down and millions retreated into their homes, so did Billie Eilish. my future is the first song she wrote under quarantine, and it finds the young pop star once again in a contemplative headspace. She’s not singing to any former lover - she’s addressing herself. Solitude was a cause for despair on when the party’s over. But now, almost two years later, she’s attempting to find happiness and take it for herself. Relate below.

Róisín Murphy - Something More

In the years since the dissolution of her ’90s trip-hop duo Moloko, Irish singer Róisín Murphy has become one of the most dependably great dance-pop auteurs around. And on Friday, she’s announcing a new album called Róisín Machine, the disco-house diva’s first full-length project since 2016’s Take Her Up To Monto. In addition to previously released singles like Murphy’s Law, Incapable, and Narcissus, the record will include five new tracks including Something More and is out September 25. Countdown below.

Taylor Swift Feat. Bon Iver - Exile

A: Taylor Swift Feat. Bon Iver
S: exile

After releasing Lover last August, Taylor Swift has returned with her eighth record Folklore less than a year later, offering a daring new vision of her artistry without a bad song in the new batch. On Exile, a Bon Iver duet, Justin Vernon’s gruff voice over soft piano notes a unexpected tone. Vernon sings of betrayal - after the first chorus, he howls in his falsetto - but the crumbling romance on display is prodded at from different angles: You never gave a warning sign, Vernon sings, then Swift replies, I gave so many signs. Swift recorded her vocals for Exile in Los Angeles, while Vernon recorded his in Fall Creek, Wisconsin; the distance is fitting, and lends a deeper layer to the affecting disconnect.
