M. Ward - Sad, Sad Song

A: M. Ward
S: Sad, Sad Song
C: Transfiguration Of Vincent

First things first, the purple-ish background color in the video is not my fault! That said, Matt Ward is one of a kind when it comes to playing the guitar and writing simple yet true to the bone songs/lyrics. Sad, Sad Song is the best example, not to say his other songs are less touching.

Kish Mauve - Modern Love

A: Kish Mauve
S: Modern Love
C: Black Heart

Kish Mauve were the Best Kept Secret of London's Alternative Music Scene for so long I actuallly thought they would never release an album. In the end they did this spring. Have a dive, enjoy the ride!

The Killers - Don't Shoot Me Santa

A: The Killers
S: Don't Shoot Me Santa
C: Don't Shoot Me Santa - Single

I decided to go festive after all. 10 days to go so nobody can blame me for not making an effort. The Killers release a Christmas Song every year, and Don't Shoot Me Santa two years ago was their funkiest and funniest yet.

Bruce Springsteen - Streets Of Philadelphia

A: Bruce Springsteen
S: Streets Of Philadelphia
C: Philadelphia - Original Soundtrack

Back in the 90s I read the book 3 times, watched the movie 10 times more - and listened to the song countlessly. There was no Harry Potter or Twilight around in those days, god am I that old?
Anyway - the song was written for the movie itself, and won both Oscar and Grammy.
Over 15 years old, this song has never lost a single spark of emotional captivity to me. I get shivers and goose bumps every time I listen to it..
Nothing new today, but sometimes you have to stick with a classic and enjoy it, not change it.

New Young Pony Club - Hiding On The Staircase

A: New Young Pony Club
S: Hiding On The Staircase
C: Fantastic Playroom

New Young Pony Club had a massively overrated debut album in 2007 - which I already rated not that important back then, and the fact that we haven't heard anything from the group since then only proves me right. Still, there is one song on that debut I still enjoy - and obviously the pony club band name is ace!

Basement Jaxx - What's A Girl Gotta Do // Feeling's Gone

A: Basement Jaxx
S: What's A Girl Gotta Do Feat. PALOMA FAITH
C: Scars

First song, from those two taken from Basement Jaxx's latest album Scars - is actually much better but there is no video around. And Sam Sparro is always fun to watch so I thought i post that video as well.
As I said the first one is the one i like most - with Paloma you simply can't go wrong (she doesn't own a single pair of flat shoes and she never leaves the house without a perfect makeup and dress) We like!
