It's the Grammys tonight. Sure won't be too much of a party with Whitney Houston passing away last night in LA - the Grammys being the reason why she was in town.
Anyway, this is Fun (stylized fun.), an American indie pop band based in New York, and the song featured during one of the Super Bowl ads for Chevrolet. Still can't believe Whitney died.

It's The Head And The Heart! I truely think they are amazing - they are my personal runner up of every category last year: best new band, best album, best lyrics, best music. And they are from Seattle, as Grey's Anatomy is (I know that's fictional), but I think they sound exactly like it. Which is why I am dying to see them live (no luck so far).

If you write somebody a love letter, it's considered the cutest thing ever - the joy! If you break up with somebody over a letter, you're purely evil. Why is that? Is it classical message versus messenger? Just a thought I had, being a writer and all (yes it's only copy and blog but it still qualifies). Anyway, this the new Coldplay video.

So it is Wilco and Popeye. I don't really see the connection but I guess that is what I love best about it. That and the fact that it is the first hand-drawn Popeye cartoon in more than 30 years (a Tube called You told me). Dawned On Me is off the last Wilco record called The Whole Love which is nominated for a Grammy or two (I don't know exactly).

Not sure if I told this story before but it's always a good one: Leslie Feist started her music career in a punk band. Not all singer/songwritery as you might like to think. And she only changed the musical division because she had to, recovering from vocal cord damage, which is no good for a punk band singer. Well not for any singer.

Needless to say this is insane. OK Go set up over 1000 instruments over two miles of desert outside Los Angeles. A Chevy was outfitted with retractable pneumatic arms designed to play the instruments, and the band recorded this version of the song, singing as they played the instrument array with the car. Without stuntmans or stand-ins, of course.
