Antony And The Johnsons - Cut The World

A: Antony And The Johnsons
S: Cut The World
C: Cut The World

While this video may not be suitable for all audiences and viewer discretion is advised, I do recommend you watch it. It's somewhere between 'Secretary' and '9 To 5', starring Willem Dafoe, Marina Abramović, and Carice van Houten in a quiet, quite violent clip. Anyway, Antony And The Johnsons' new album is out, too - called Cut The World as well.

... i've always contained your desire to hurt me.

The Sea And Cake - Harps

A: The Sea And Cake
S: Harps
C: Runner (out 18.09.12)

If you are ever looking for a nice, long intro - this is it. So. The Sea and Cake is an indie rock band based in Chicago. They formed from members of The Coctails, Shrimp Boat, and Tortoise; the group's name came from a willful reinterpretation (as the result of an accidental miscomprehension) of "The C in Cake", a song by Gastr del Sol.

... the summer won't go off - cause the sky was never blue.

Ben Howard - Old Pine

A: Ben Howard
S: Old Pine
C: Every Kingdom

This will get us in the mood. For indian Summer, that is. Funny how Ben Howard sings about memories being the best thing we ever have. I was shopping for an external hardrive yesterday, and some brand that shall not be mentioned had a claim which went like this: You make the memories. We keep them safe. Maybe a bit over the top for an external harddrive, but it could have been worse.

... I've come to know that memories were the best things you ever had.

Vacationer - Trip

Vacationer - Trip (Official Video) from Vacationer on Vimeo.

A: Vacationer
S: Trip
C: Gone

It's Vacationer! My favourite summer album this year so far. I think I've been saying that a lot lately so maybe I better stop. Anyway, here's some copy pasted info for you: Vacationer is a band from Baltimore and includes ex-members of DC/Baltimore bands Grubspoon, Reticent Virgo, Sonic Cheetahs of Death, and Swim Shower.

... as cool as can be - heaven isn't coming on.

Odetta - Hit Or Miss

A: Odetta
S: Hit Or Miss
C: Best Of Odetta

Right then, this is featured as soundtrack to the fabulous new ad for Southern Comfort. I must have watched it about 10 times already, since yesterday. And it makes me want to get drunk tonight, on Southern Comfort, of course. Which I have never even drunk before. Here's to ads well done, and tomorrow's hangover.

... and there ain't nobody just like this - I gotta be me.

Robin Beck - Close To You

A: Robin Beck
S: Close To You
C: Can't Get Off

Sorry but I had to. Apparently, as I found out last night, not everybody knows that this song wasn't especially written for the MacDonald's ad in the early 90s. Sorry Yvonne. Anyway, Close To You sounds better than world peace, if you ask me. So enjoy this little trip down memory lane and off you go.

... just call out my name - and I´ll go on my way.

Cate Le Bon - Fold The Cloth

A: Cate Le Bon
S: Fold The Cloth
C: Cyrk

This came out in January, but I think it sounds like Summer, and nothing else. Maybe even Indian Summer. At least that is what the video looks like. And I decided it's cool to have a Cate Le Bon video on this blog. Not that I would listen to the track on repeat for the next three weeks. But it fits today, nicely.

... tuck your belly in your chest and see how close we are.
