The National - Rylan

A: The National
S: Rylan

The National have been working on Rylan for a long time. They first performed the song way back in December of 2011 - it even made it onto our list of the National’s best songs back in 2013 - but after a few fleeting performances, Rylan disappeared from their live show for the better part of a decade. Only in the last two years has it reemerged to become a setlist mainstay. But with the band's last album, I Am Easy To Find, the song finally got an official release.

Taylor Swift - Lover

A: Taylor Swift
S: Lover

It's been a while since La Swift released her Lover album alongside a music video for the record's title track. According to the artist herself, the entire concept of the video came from a lyric she wrote on the 1989 album in a song called You Are in Love. There's a line that se was really proud of in the song that says 'you two are dancing in a snow globe round and round'. That line inspired the entire concept of this music video. Karaoke below.

Skinshape - Don't Call My Name

A: Skinshape
S: Don't Call My Name

Skinshape is an act almost impossible to google, but with a sound this smooth and soothing, maybe it's important to let the sound speak for the act, and thus for itself. Don't Call My Name is off Skinshape's 2017 album Life & Love. Discover below.

CHROMATICS - I WANT TO BE ALONE

A: CHROMATICS
S: I WANT TO BE ALONE

Chromatics have shared a cover Jackson C. Frank's Dialogue (I Want to Be Alone), changing the title to simply I Want to Be Alone. The original version appeared on Frank's lone album, a self-titled affair from 1965 that was produced by Paul Simon. There's no word if Chromatics' version will be featured on their long delayed new album or if there will ever again be a Chromatics record.

Grimes & i_o - Violence

A: Grimes & i_o
S: Violence

Last we heard from Grimes, she was not-so-facetiously requesting that we submit to the future General AI overlords. After 10 months, a Stella McCartney campaign, and a hubbub over claims of experimental eye surgery, she’s cooled it on the industrial nu-metal. Working alongside Deadmau5-adjacent producer i_o, Violence - which may or may not appear on Grimes’ upcoming record Miss_Anthrop0cene - embraces swooning synths and propulsive melodies that recall Art Angels-lite. Hurt below.
