Little Dragon - Twice // Constant Surprises

A: Little Dragon
S: Twice

Little Dragon from Sweden. Ha, I think both songs can be viewed as the depressing and depressed mood in political Switzerland of today morning, monday the 30th of November.

Mickey Avalon - So Rich, So Pretty

A: Mickey Avalon
S: So Rich, So Pretty
C: Mickey Avalon

There's a wicked ironic touch to Mickey's story, and it goes like this: only a teenager, Mickey had to sell drugs for his parents who were both dealers as well as addicts as well. Some years further down the line Mickey's Das decided to sober up and started going to regular AA meetings, till one night, when he got run over dead by a car (and guess what) droven by a drunken driver!
Both songs come from Mickey's self titled deubt album - by the way: funky funky lyrics!

Damien Rice - Accidental Babies

A: Damien Rice
S: Accidental Babies
C: 9

What to say? Damien breaks my heart with every song he sings - there must be something in that Irish water. Accidental Babies is taken from the 2nd album. It's a song with such simple yet strong lyrics (** Is he dark enough? - Enough to see your light? **) like only Damien can write. That is why I decided to post them as well today (since the live video's quality is a bit rubbish, sorry bout that)

L:
Well I held you like a lover
Happy hands and your elbow in the appropriate place

And we ignored our others, happy plans
For that delicate look upon your face

Our bodies moved and hardened
Hurting parts of your garden
With no room for a pardon
In a place where no one knows what we have done

Do you come
Together ever with him?
And is he dark enough?
Enough to see your light?
And do you brush your teeth before you kiss?
Do you miss my smell?
And is he bold enough to take you on?
Do you feel like you belong?
And does he drive you wild?
Or just mildly free?
What about me?

Well you held me like a lover
Sweaty hands
And my foot in the appropriate place

And we use cushions to cover
Happy glands
In the mild issue of our disgrace

Our minds pressed and guarded
While our flesh disregarded
The lack of space for the light-hearted
In the boom that beats our drum

Well I know I make you cry
And I know sometimes you wanna die
But do you really feel alive without me?
If so, be free
If not, leave him for me
Before one of us has accidental babies
For we are in love

Do you come
Together ever with him?
Is he dark enough?
Enough to see your light?
Do you brush your teeth before you kiss?
Do you miss my smell?
And is he bold enough to take you on?
Do you feel like you belong?
And does he drive you wild?
Or just mildly free?

What about me?
What about me?

Polly Scattergood - Other Too Endless // Please Don't Touch

A: Polly Scattergood
S: Other Too Endless
C: Polly Scattergood

This 22 years old British lady released her Debut Album earlier on this year, after she sold tomatoes in London to support herself until she got a record deal. Lucky for her, and us, the tomatoes are history. There is always an unique sexy and yet innocent theme to her songs and videos. For me, a young Tori Amos or Kate Bush, although I don't like to compare an artist to another one. Enjoy. Please enjoy and please don't forget - Please Don't Touch!

William Fitzsimmons - It's Not True // After Afterall

A: William Fitzsimmons
S: It's Not True
C: Goodnight

We love love love William, there is such an unique comfort to his voice that you can lose yourself in it no matter what the day, or night for that matter, brings along. William grew up in a, how he calls it, blind house. Both his parents were blind, and very talented musicians. Somehow, I think this reflects in Williams songs, if you close your eyes when you listen to his songs, you actually see more than when you leave them open..
I actually decided to give you two songs of William today - one just is not enough!

Beck - Everybody's Gotta Learn Sometimes

A: Beck
S: Everybody's Gotta Learn Sometimes
C: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - OST

Beck features in the film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, which won an Oscar for best original screenplay. The song, as well as the movie, matches a doomy and gloomy November day, like today, perfectly!
