Franz Ferdinand - Always Ascending

A: Franz Ferdinand
S: Always Ascending

After teasing fans with a snippet of new music last week, the indie veterans unveiled the lead single and announced that their new album Always Ascending is out February 9. Drawing on the band’s more synth-based electronic sounds, the track is a propulsive and experimental turn for Franz, and an ambitious departure from their more guitar-driven roots.

... the opening line leaves an uncertain ending.

Isaac Delusion - ISABELLA

A: Isaac Delusion
S: ISABELLA

With their sophomore album Rust and Gold, Isaac Delusion returned with a video for their standout track Isabella. The Parisian quintet channel an eerie atmosphere of dreamy, claustrophobic suburbia. The video features a cast of heroines adorned in blonde wigs and sporting doll-like features. There’s an unsettling feeling of reliability as we watch the actors perform their series of day-to-day activities.

... every bottom has a top.

Sébastien Tellier - Lovely Blonde

A: Sébastien Tellier
S: Lovely Blonde

Sebastien Tellier and Mathieu Tonetti have a long story together. They befriended as teenagers and spent loads of time together watching films like Starship Troopers. One became a musician, the other a film maker. A Girl Is a Gun is a new series of 10 minutes episodes by Tonetti so it was very natural for Tellier to score it, as he knew what was needed for an erotic-feminist series starring Denise Richards, of… Starship Troopers fame!

... hey lovely blonde.

Papooz - Ann Wants to Dance

A: Papooz
S: Ann Wants to Dance

The boys from Parisian two-piece Papooz harmonise lazily over carefree guitar riffs in this track. Their breezy tropical take on Simon and Garfunkel-esque sound is sure to slide right into any sunny afternoon, or any afternoon reminiscent of such. French filmmaker, actress and musician Soko took care of the visuals. Enjoy.

... she scares them all.

Eels - Fresh Blood

A: Eels
S: Fresh Blood

"It's all so tragic," says E of the cult band Eels whose song Fresh Blood opens the HBO documentary about Robert Dunst, The Jinx. If you haven't seen it already, you know what to do this weekend. If you have seen it already, simply watch it again. That's how good it is.

... get out of my head.

JAY-Z Feat. Damian Marley - Bam

A: JAY-Z Feat. Damian Marley
S: Bam

Just like his over exclusive aesthetic releases, JAY-Z‘s Bam video from 4:44 has made its way to YouTube, allowing those without a TIDAL subscription to watch the clip. Featuring Damian Marley and Sister Nancy, the visual accounts for the first from JAY’s recently-released album that he himself is actually showcased in.

... those were just the words you'll never hear again.

Aminé - Spice Girl

A: Aminé
S: Spice Girl

Amine has released a playful yet bizarre music video for Spice Girl, which is as weird as it is hilarious, opening with the rapper sitting on a couch with what seems to be a naked, female Aminé in his lap. The ongoing weirdness shows him chilling with a giant soap dispenser, getting Good For You tatted across his chest, and rapping head-to-toe in yellow post it notes (a nod to the album cover’s aesthetic).

... zig-a-zig-ah - fuck up my whole world.
