A: Django Django Feat. Self Esteem
S: Surface to Air

Just last week, Django Django released their ace new album Marble Skies. Following on from the album’s release, they’ve just shared a video for Surface To Air, which features Self Esteem, aka Rebecca Taylor. The clip, directed by Fir Lx, follows her in a variety of atmospheric settings in an abandoned town just outside of Madrid. Keep an eye out for the Djangos themselves making an appearance on an old school TV set…

Dixie Chicks - Wide Open Spaces

A: Dixie Chicks
S: Wide Open Spaces

Released twenty yeahs ago today, Wide Open Spaces still sounds as fresh as back when. It’s the single that defines not only this album (both literally and figuratively), but it’s the one that biggest struck the chord with fans in 1998. Not only is the empowerment anthem the best song on the album, it remains one of the band’s most beloved songs.

... if these are life's lessons, she'll take this test.

The S.O.S. Band - Just Be Good To Me

A: The S.O.S. Band
S: Just Be Good To Me

Funny how you can know a song for half a lifetime. kind of liking it but never really getting into it. Then all of a sudden you find yourself in a certain situation and instantly said song nails everything you're feeling word by word.

... I don't care about your other girls.

James Blake - If The Car Besides You Moves Ahead

A: James Blake
S: If The Car Besides You Moves Ahead

Update your Sunday with mister Blake and his new song and first original solo track since 2016's The Colour in Anything. Having said that, also note that he recently teamed up with Jay Rock for King’s Dead, which is taken from the forthcoming Black Panther soundtrack.

... you're not going backwards.

HAIM - Night So Long

A: HAIM
S: Night So Long

There’s an air of quiet rock in this house. Sharing a similar feel to the band’s Right Now and Want You Back videos, but even more pared down, Night So Long suggests frequent collaborator Paul Thomas Anderson has had enough immaculate hand-sewn gowns awash in impeccable lighting to last him a lifetime. Though, whatever he does, you know he does it carefully.

... I say goodbye to love again.

Johnny Jewel - Digital Rain

A: Johnny Jewel
S: Digital Rain

The latest solo album from the leader of Chromatics is a full-scale concept album about inclement weather and out today. Jewel’s music - whether on his own, or as a composer for television and film, or with one of his bands - has always captured less a style or sound than a mood.

Shame - Concrete

A: Shame
S: Concrete

There’s a certain tingly, effervescent hum that pervades truly solid post-punk. A three-coffees-deep jitter, an anxious buzz. Well earlier this year, one of the UK’s most talked about young bands Shame share their debut album. Bracing jolts of songs, liquid lightning and a rumble of thunder. Enjoy.

... would you rather it's fake.
