This is your daily song calendar - every day there is a new song or music video waiting for you. Maybe you hate it, maybe you love it - maybe you already know it or maybe you'll just discover something new! Either way, it's all about the music and a little bit about the lyrics. And since you're here, I will share what I've learned over the years: An apple a day keeps the doctor away but if the doctor is cute - screw the fruit!

Ryan Adams - Halloweenhead
A: Ryan Adams
S: Halloweenhead
C: Easy Tiger
I truly and utterly hope there is nobody thinking I missed the letter B. in front of -ryan, because I didn't. You might not believe this, but it did happen before! Then again I guess stranger things have happened. Anyway, this is this blog's first Halloween so it wasn't to difficult to find a song to match the celebration. Let's wait and see what I will come up with next year. In the meantime, I wish all of you happy trick or tweetin'.

Far East Movement Feat. The Cataracs & Dev - Like A G6
A: Far East Movement Feat. The Cataracs & Dev
S: Like A G6
C: Free Wired
They told me it is the weekend and about time we trashed this baby up again. Last week, when I was in a certain bar in San Fräncisco, they had a drink called 'Like A G6' on the board and played the song every time somebody ordered the cocktail... took me bout half an hour to figure out the playlist. Clever, I know. By the way, Far East Movement is an electro hop and electronic dance rap quartet based in Los Angeles, California, created in 2003.

Robyn - Indestructible
A: Robyn
S: Indestructible
C: Body Talk Pt. 3 (out 03.12.10)
Get ready for the final part of Body Talk (out 03.12.10). As I said before, Robyn is becoming one fine artist, who's finally got the shizzle together, in her videos as well as her songs. There is a beautiful twist in the lyrics of this song, which you probably noticed yourself, but I am more than happy to point it out anyway: I'm gonna love you like I've never been hurt before (instead of: loved before). By the way, my bike is back and running.

Kisses - People Can Do The Most Amazing Things
A: Kisses
S: People Can Do The Most Amazing Things
C: People Can Do The Most Amazing Things - EP
Oh it is always so marvelous when the first thing you realise on a brand new blooming morning is that the back tire of your bloody bastard bike has gone busted. Absolutely suitable comes today's song by a band called 'Kisses' (which I think is a fantastic name for a band - try to google them, it is impossible) with 'People Can Do The Most Amazing Things'. Yes, we can. We can even hike to work. Yes.

Is Tropical - South Pacific
A: Is Tropical
S: South Pacific
C: (out early 2011)
Can I just say that this freaking new secretary has been blocking the coffee maschine at the office for half an hour now. And that I, obviously, can not blog a post of decent music without that much needed shot of caffeine strolling through my veins. Anyway, Is Tropical is a safe bet to post even when still half asleep. And it is my hype 2010, if I had a hype, which I don't, because otherwise this blog would be useless - like me without coffee.

Yodelice - Free
A: Yodelice
S: Sunday With A Flu
C: Tree Of Life
Gorgeous. Another video in all black and white - guess I should have started a special week or something or nothing to the colorless world of music videos. Colored or not, it is an exciting time in all things music, there are a great number of artists out at the moment. I will admit quite honestly that I have more songs than days to share. Back to business, Yodelice is French and called Maxim Nucci, in real.

Duffy - Well, Well, Well
A: Duffy
S: Well, Well, Well
C: Endlessly (out 26.11.10)
I'm not even going to try and comment on this one musicwise. To me, Lady Duffy is the perfection of natural female beauty and so pretty, pretty woman. She is like the new version of a young Brigitte Bardot, before the old version lost her marbles or whatever. Meaning: the song, the lyrics, the melody and her voice could be all over the place and I would still love it. I guess it is safe to say that it is not.

Agnes Obel - Riverside
A: Agnes Obel
S: Riverside
C: Philharmonics
Autumn's here. Just in case you haven't noticed. Next up is another black and white super-8 music video (apparently 'the gloomy and scenic imagery melts the strange together with the realistic'). Agnes Obel is a Danish singer, songwriter, musician and lives in Berlin.
Somebody said she gets her inspiration trough films and soundtracks. I say I don't care where she gets it from, but it is stunningly beautiful.

Uffie - Difficult
A: Uffie
S: Difficult
C: Sex Dreams And Denim Jeans
So the holidays are over and this is like back to business. French pop-a-holic Uffie, who was the Keisha before Keisha happened, but then Uffie got pregnant or something and went traveling the world to find her something inner something or somewhat. So and then Keisha happened and now somehow, Keisha is Uffie and Uffie is nobody but a copy, apparently, and I am drunk so this is it, and that is that.

San Quinn Feat. Boo Banga & Big Rich - San Francisco Anthem
A: San Quinn Feat. Boo Banga & Big Rich
S: San Francisco Anthem
C: San Francisco Anthem - EP
Here comes a tune that is nothing less than larger than life. Late as can be, I kept the best for last, and even tho we are leaving gorgeous San Francisco tonight, Scott McKenzie's masterpiece has never been sampled in a more honest way (not that I know of it being sampled repeatedly). I will just shut up and let you enjoy both song and clip.
Sara Bareilles - King Of Anything
Sara Bareilles - King of Anything from Sam Garvey on Vimeo.
A: Sara Bareilles
S: King Of Anything
C: King Of Anything - EP
Kind of played up and down everywhere, kind of didn't like her when she debuted with her album 'Little Voice' - after all, size does matter, even if it doesn't, it still does. But 'King Of Anything' is kind of ever so nice, plus the video is stunningly simple (black and white is definitely the mood to shoot this autumn), and there is a nice twist and turn somewhere in the lyrics too. Ever so easy to keep me satisfied.

Kanye West Feat. Pusha T - Runaway
A: Kanye West Feat. Pusha T
S: Runaway
C: Runaway - Sinlge
Driving from Las Vegas to San Francisco yesterday, for nine hours straight, hundreds and thousands (at least it felt like that much), no radio station whatsoever wanted to tune up Kanye's latest piece of melody. This one is for Lady LS who sat beside me and waited for it, singing along so beautifully - not.

Dan Black - Alone
A: Dan Black
S: Alone
C: Alone - EP
I found this one when walking through the M&Ms World Store on Las Vegas Boulevard yesterday. And I figured it was alright for posting, then. Maybe it looked better in a fantastic pop banana colored world, or it just made more sense. It is still quite fun outside the store and today, but if you want the full effect - head to your next candy shop and get some sweets!

Hurts - Stay
A: Hurts
S: Stay
C: Happiness
There is no update on the America Tour front today. Instead, we will head to good old England where THE band 2010 (as in Hurts) has just released the new video for song 'Stay'. Beautiful and stunning as can be (who expected anything else? exactly) it follows the same 'handwriting' as previous re-release 'Wonderful Life'. There are bands who make concept albums, Hurts do concept videos.

Razorlight - America
A: Razorlight
S: America
C: Razorlight
Since I am still here, in America, and because I forgot them during hymn week, and since this is one of my most favorite beloved songs of all times (there are a view, I know), this tune is quite an obvious and appropriate choice. The video is kind of cut off in a funny way, but the original is blocked for posting (I don't like) so it is more than fair that they don't get the whole picture. Who cares.

Roy Orbison & Elvis Presley - Pretty Woman - Polk Salad Annie
A: Roy Orbison & Elvis Presley
S: Pretty Woman - Polk Salad Annie
C: youtube.com
It would have made more sense, I admit, to post this one during my time in LA instead of Vegas, but there is no Vegas without Elvis, if you ask me. Elvis, who still rocked the pot even when he was far from the looks he once had. Oh, and the video, is pure glam and a touch-of-class. No? Where did it all go wrong, all those marvelous days and styles of the '70s... Anyway, here is a piece of it.

Brandon Flowers - Welcome To Fabulous Las Vegas
A: Brandon Flowers
S: Welcome To Fabulous Las Vegas
C: Flamingo
Bit of a shame really there isn't a video out (yet) for this song. But, I do think it is one of the best tracks on Flowers album. And it is, actually, the best matching song for today, since I am off in a bit, to Vegas, for the very first time. Impossible to capture my excitement within these couple of lines on my daily blog, but let me assure, it is nothing less than massive. Like Brandon's song, so to say.

Bran Van 3000 - Drinking In LA
A: Bran Van 3000
S: Drinking In LA
C: Glee
A classic like this song never goes out of style, and was the only choice I could think of on my first morning my first time in LA. Although I do have to improve on the drinking part - both non and alcoholic. I've just run out of cheap hotel filter coffee, and the only place to charge my mac book is in the bathroom of my hotelroom. so i'm sitting on the toilet tipping. must look nothing less than sexy.

Men - Off Our Backs
A: Men
S: Off Our Backs
C: Off Our Backs - EP
Jeez, if I was as slow as my MacBook Pro, this would be 'A Song A Week', not a day. Anyway. Who said picking band names was a difficult thing to do? Just call it 'Men' like this act does, 'Women' might still be up for grabs. You don't even have to add an oh so overrated 'The'. Men might sound like bands you already know, which is because they are: JD Samson from Le Tigre, Ginger Brooks Takahashi, Michael O'Neill and other special guests (whoever that might be).

Rhythmos Del Mundo & The Killers - Hotel California
A: Rhythmos Del Mundo & The Killers
S: Hotel California
C: Classics
Yes yes. I know the original is better and nothing compares to it. But we all know that one so let's all broaden our horizon and discover a pretty damn fine cover version. Hotel Cali, to me, is one of the best written songs, like ever. It is also my state of mind today, since I am off to California tomorrow, desperately looking for a hotel... to be continued.

The Golden Filter - Solid Gold
A: The Golden Filter
S: Solid Gold
C: Voluspa
All the leaves are golden! And the temperature is freaking freezing. Anyways, enough about the weather and back to the act: The Golden Filter are an electronic duo based in New York City. Lead singer Penelope Trappes grew up in Lismore, near Byron Bay, New South Wales, Australia, while disco and analogue synth programmer Stephen Hindman is originally from Ohio, United States.

Antony And The Johnsons - Thank You For Your Love
A: Antony and The Johnsons
S: Thank You For Your Love
C: Swanlights
It is Sunday, so I figured it was time to scale it down a level, or two. What to say. This must be the most haunting voice in today's 'popular' music, if you want to call it that. And I use haunting in an most and utterly positive way. The video is comprised of Super 8 footage that Antony shot when he first arrived to New York City as a teenager in the early 1990's. Beautiful.

Empire Of The Sun - We Are The People
A: Empire Of The Sun
S: We Are The People
C: Walking On A Dream
We Are The People is obviously not really new, but still totally exciting. Kind of like red wine, which gets better in time. Or Sean Connery, although that example is slowly but surely wearing off a bit, no offense. Or like your favorite pair of denim jeans. Or chucks, which are bastards tho: as soon as they are worn out enough not to look new anymore they break.

Mark Ronson & The Business Intl - The Bike Song
A: Mark Ronson & The Business Intl
S: The Bike Song
C: The Record Collection
Here's to all the bikers and all the riders and the twix and all chocolate bars. The Bike Song was my number one fav track on Mark Ronson's new album anyways, so I'm more than thrilled that so-called Dj to the celebs Mr. Ronson released this tune as his second single. As always, styled to perfection, although I wouldn't copy that hair colour right away. On a second thought, maybe I should.

May68 - My Ways
A: May68
S: My Ways
C: My Ways - EP
Right, you will either totally hate this, or completely love it. I personally hope you will opt for the latter. The video is purely gorgeous, the voice perfect to mix and match the oh so very reproachful lyrics 'last week, you said you'd call me'. May68 simply nail it. Never listen to this during a work-out, the effect will be addictive as can be. The song, and the work-out.

Paul Smith - Our Lady Of Lourdes
A: Paul Smith
S: Our Lady Of Lourdes
C: Margins (out 11.10.10)
This one is a grower. And great songs sometimes are most of the time. Since really everybody and anybody is doing it solo this year (Fran Healy of Travis is still to come), it is no surprise that talent proven front man of Maximo Park Paul Smith is about to release a single debut album too. As always, the official statement: there is no need to worry about the band seperating forever, because they won't.

Sheila She Loves You - Dont Give Us Poets, Give Us Bread
A: Sheila She Loves You
S: Dont Give Us Poets, Give Us Bread
C: Esztergom
Feel good indie pop made in Basel, Switzerland. Apparently they have been touring all over the country since they debuted in June. Which doesn't make much sence to me to be honest. If they are talented, because they are, and from Heidicountry, obviously too, they should travel the world and become international superstars and sell millions and millions of copies of their album. Insted, they stay here and play for silly cows and dirty farmers...

Clare Maguire - Ain't Nobody
A: Clare Maguire
S: Ain't Nobody
C: Ain't Nobody - EP
Impressive video. The voice isn't so bad either. Clare Maguire has supported Hurts during their concert last night in Leeds, and convinced us all. Haven't got a clue when the disc is about to be released, but if you head to Clare's facebook page you can download a free song or two on there.

We Love with Ellen Allien - Hide Me
A: We Love with Ellen Allien
S: Ice Lips
C: We Love
There's beauty in darkness, and there is beauty in simplicity. One might think We Love sound a bit like The XX, but there is a difference somewhere. And there is more than plenty of room for another band with a similar understanding of what music should sound like. For darker afternoons to come this year, this track, or album, is a keeper.

Deerhunter - Helicopter
A: Deerhunter
S: Helicopter
C: Halcyon Digest
Just to make sure you don't get anything mixed up: this post is about the indie-rock band Deerhunter, an American four-piece group originating from Atlanta, Georgia. For the Boston-based post-hardcore band, see The Dear Hunter. For the film, see The Deer Hunter. Even if this is about the band, the film is actually wort watching, post-vietnam something, won best picture, back in the day.

Los Campesinos - You! Me! Dancing!
A: Los Campesinos
S: You! Me! Dancing!
C: Sticking Fingers Into Sockets - EP
Nothing new today, but I love that intro. And I like the chorus. Actually everything in between and after too. And the video is great fun, did I mention that already? Plus the lyrics are kind of wicked. Oh, then there is the title, whcih should be this weekend's title. With the weekend starting right here and now and lasting until, mmh, let's say - tuesday 3pm. Sounds good to me.
By the way: Los Campesinos! are a seven piece indie pop band from Cardiff, Wales that formed in early 2006 at Cardiff University.
