Mark Ronson Feat. Miley Cyrus - Nothing Breaks Like a Heart

A: Mark Ronson Feat. Miley Cyrus
S: Nothing Breaks Like a Heart

As promised, Miley Cyrus and Mark Ronson have unveiled their new collaboration, Nothing Breaks Like a Heart. Country-tinged and love-torn, the song is taken from Ronson’s upcoming solo album, which promises additional sad banger contributions from Lykke Li and the superstar producer’s own Zelig Records signee, King Princess.

Since the end of October, a remixed version of MØ's Blur featuring Foster the People frontman Mark Foster has gotten some airplay on radio stations, but is yet to have an official release. The song has gotten its official video now and is out on your favorite streaming service.

Exitmusic - Iowa

A: Exitmusic
S: Iowa

One of my favorite songs this year is this heartbreaking meditation on the end of the 15-year marriage between the creators of Exitmusic, Aleksa Palladino and Devon Church, who have been writing songs together throughout their relationship. The album The Recognitions represents their final effort together, musically and as a couple.

... it’s undercover but we’re so in love.

Fishbach - Un autre que moi

A: Fishbach
S: Un autre que moi

Life's a bitch but sometimes wishes come true anyways. Here is one for example, pure 80s recreation - in French. You are welcome. There might be constant protest going on in the land of brie and champagne, but gas prices aside, this chansonnière is so ace we might even forget the concord isn't flying anymore.

... on se retrouve un autre attentat.

Róisín Murphy - The Rumble

A: Róisín Murphy
S: The Rumble

The former Moloko singer unveiled the final 12” in her Maurice Fulton-produced 4-part series, saying that she needed help as it’s a mammoth track, like two songs in one, the second half is a vamp in which Maurice instructed her to preach! Preaching was not a natural stance for her but he insisted she try, now she can’t stop testifying, the process has changed her a little.

Mariah Carey - GTFO

A: Mariah Carey
S: GTFO

While others were too busy sharing I don’t know her GIFS, roasting her New Year’s Eve performance fiasco, and considering the benefits of bathing in milk, Mariah Carey was preparing for the release of Caution, written with the haters and disbelievers in mind. The album is Carey’s first in four years and a more concise, controlled take on Carey’s hip-hop-infused pop, conveying a level of maturity that can only come from existing as a hit-making recording artist for nearly three decades.

... you took my love for granted.

Billie Eilish - Come Out And Play (Apple Holiday Ad 2018)

A: Billie Eilish
S: Come Out And Play

You might think of this as an ad or a music video, what can I say it is 2018 and everything is fluid. Come Out And Play is Eilish’s fifth release since the release of her EP, don’t smile at me, leading up to her still untitled debut album, which has been teased to release in early 2019. The song was written for Apple’s 2018 holiday ad campaign, Holiday - Share Your Gifts.

... I love it when you're awfully quiet.

Anderson .Paak Feat. Kendrick Lamar - TINTS

A: Anderson .Paak Feat. Kendrick Lamar
S: TINTS

As the first official single from Oxnard, Tints marks the third collaboration between Anderson .Paak and Kendrick Lamar. They had previously linked up on Deep Water from Dr. Dre’s Compton album, and Bloody Waters from the Black Panther soundtrack. But don't think of this as a match made in the studio, as .Paak points out: I’ve still not been able to work with Kendrick in the studio one-on-one. Everything we’ve done has been over the web.

... I can't be flying down that 110 with a bad bitch in my whip.

Adeline - Emeralds

A: Adeline
S: Emeralds

Adeline, singer of nu-disco band Escort, achieves a natural high on her funky new slow jam Emeralds. The vocalist paired her debut solo single with an impressionistic video in which she sings in a mirrored room and appears to levitate backwards off the ground. Enjoy below.

Perfume Genius - Not For Me

A: Perfume Genius
S: Not For Me

Perfume Genius has shared a new cover of this Bobby Darin song from the 1960s. He discussed the track in a 2017 interview: “I was playing this for the band because we were thinking of covering it,” he said at the time. “I feel like I could sing this and not have it be the way he intended. It sounds more like an outsider-y type thing to me."

Rosalía - Malamente

A: ROSALÍA

In case you missed the Grammys, this Spanish singer, who was the most nominated female artist of the night with five nods and already nabbed best alternative song and best urban fusion/performance for Malamente, took the stage to perform with six dancers and her powerhouse vocals mixed with an epic flamenco-meets-hip-hop dance choreography. Catch the video below.

Down to three but still the best boy band of the planet, hell, the universe, has shared a new song. Out Of Our Heads is the first of three new songs to appear on the album Odyssey, which will also include reimagined versions of the band’s most celebrated tracks, just in time for Christmas I guess.

In regards to his historic chart placement, Joji made the following statement in a press release: “I was eating a thin slice of cheese when I received this news. I smiled and swallowed the cheese. Balthazar - Fever

A: Balthazar
S: Fever

Balthazar is a Belgian indie popand rock group, not to be confused with Bulgarian DJ Balthazar. I guess in times when the American president imposter mixes up baltic and Balkan, things like this are important to point out. Also, most Americans wouldn't be able make the distinction themselves either. Anyway, back to Belgium. Here's the first track of the new album, out end of January.

Mit Wo Ich Wech Bin serviert uns der liebe Dende aus Menden endlich einen ersten musikalischen und visuellen Appetizer aus seinem jüngsten Schaffen. Malihini - Hopefully, Again

A: Malihini
S: Hopefully, Again

This lo-fi pop duo will release their debut Hopefully, Again on March 8. So it is a bit of a wait but you know what they say about all great things. Malihini means ‘newcomers’ in Hawaiian, but the band deals exclusively in the music of lived experience and time-honed emotional intelligence, their disarming musical universe never less than distinctive, yet resonating with a confessional, modern European pop sophistication.

... love is coming back.

Pristine Babe - Lolita

A: Pristine Babe
S: Lolita

Following the release of their debut single Moonlight back in the summer, London based electro-pop duo Pristine Babe have shared new track Lolita and a music video that goes with it. I know, the excitement is on and it's only Thursday. Originally from Italy, Pristine Babe consider themselves European millennials trying to find their own way, using their magic to turn their everyday life into retro-sounding pop bangers.

LCD Soundsystem - Oh Baby

A: LCD Soundsystem

LCD Soundsystem’s new video for Oh Baby isn't so much a music clip. Think of it as an Oscar-worthy all-star sci-fi drama - if you still consider Oscar-worthy as a compliment, that is. Star Wars director Rian Johnson’s video oeuvre features Sissy Spacek and David Strathairn. Enjoy below.

Toro y Moi - Freelance

A: Toro y Moi
S: Freelance

On last year’s Boo Boo, Toro y Moi (aka Chaz Bear) crystallized a breakup into glistening, inward-facing pop-R&B, evolving his signature funky sound by dialing it down a touch. For his upcoming follow-up, Outer Peace, Bear turns back to the electro-dance experiments of 2014. Freelance,” the first taste from Outer Peace, is a clear pivot toward the dancefloor, taking the thankless duties of the corporate world to task over an undeniable groove.

Jaakko Eino Kalevi - This World

A: Jaakko Eino Kalevi
S: This World

In this age of constant connectivity, switching off has become one of the great luxuries of modern life, and it’s one of the reasons Jaakko Eino Kalevi has called his new album Out Of Touch. He explores what he calls this essential, blissed out state on his second album for Weird World as he meditates, in classic Jaakko fashion, on the merry-go-round of the daily grind.

The Police - Roxanne

A: The Police
S: Roxanne

40 years old today, y'all - and it still sounds fresh as funk. This is Roxanne by The Police, a.k.a.: the song that put them on the map to eventually become one of the biggest bands of the 80s. 90s kids may know this as the song that Puffy remixed or that Cam'Ron sampled for What Means The World To You.

... I loved you since I knew ya.
