Spring Offensive - Not Drowning but Waving

A: Spring Offensive
S: Not Drowning but Waving

Look what I found on a playlist far far away. This pure indie gem I would never want to live without again. Spring Offensive are an Oxford 5-piece. They have guitars, they have driving rhythms, they sing in harmony and they mean it. Sometimes they play in living rooms. Sometimes they play in churches, museums, art galleries, or venues. Enjoy below.

... I won't tell, if you don't tell.

Loyle Carner Feat. Jordan Rakei - Ottolenghi

A: Loyle Carner Feat. Jordan Rakei
S: Ottolenghi

Loyle Carner breaks his 18 month silence in music with a new track, and collaboration with Jordan Rakei. Ottolenghi takes inspiration from chef Yotam Ottolenghi, and a situation where Carner was reading one of the chef's cookbooks (Jerusalem) on the train, and was asked about his Bible book. The new track arrives with a surreal, and very clever video from award-winning director Oscar Hudson.

MorMor - Waiting on the Warmth

A: MorMor
S: Waiting on the Warmth

Toronto riser MorMor has shared a striking song last year called Waiting On The Warmth. An omnivorous listener, Toronto resident MorMor - real name Seth Nyquist - has always absorbed what is around him, whether that's pop, techno, R&B, or hip-hop. As a result, when he began to create music of its own the sheer creativity spilled across genre lines, resulting in something strikingly individual. Tune in now.

... I'm not the one to wait on.

James Blake Feat. Rosalía - Barefoot In The Park

A: James Blake Feat. Rosalía

A: Mark Ronson Feat. Lykke Li
S: Late Night Feelings

Producer and God Mark Ronson released this 70s-inspired video for his disco-esque single Late Night Feelings yesterday, featuring Lykke Li. The sultry clip stars Li as a lounge singer/dancer decked out in a red wig, pink translucent nightgown and feather boa. She dances, sways, writhes and bathes around a suite decorated in matching Valentine’s Day colors.

Abra - Pull Up

A: Abra
S: Pull Up

This girl called Abra sings about a man who she’s in love with and wants him all to herself, but also he’s a liar and a cheater. So its a revenge song in some way. And a song about every other man in every way. It happens, but as long as we get this funky beats out of it, no complains from my side.

... said I’m crazy you ain't seen shit, yeah.

KAP BAMBINO - Forever

A: KAP BAMBINO
S: Forever

French duo Kap Bambino have released their new album Dust, Fierce, Forever. Their fifth record is an irresistible whirlwind of sounds, in which the most disparate of elements spin together breathlessly. The record's 13 concise, momentous tracks juggle around familiar sounds, suggestions of Eurodance and a hint of hardcore, creating an acrobatic, incongrous mix that never lacks moments of beauty.

Billie Eilish - you should see me in a crown

A: Billie Eilish
S: you should see me in a crown

Billie Eilish's you should see me in a crown arrived a full eight months ago, but she's breathed new life into it with an appropriately haunting visual from Takashi Murakami. The new crown clip gives Eilish the anime treatment, as she transforms into a spider-like monster that tears through an unsuspecting city. It also incorporates signature elements from both artists, using Eilish's popular BLOHSH character and merch line, in addition to Murakami's iconic rainbow flowers. Enjoy below.

Ra Ra Riot - Bad To Worse

A: Ra Ra Riot
S: Bad To Worse

Ra Ra Riot’s Wes Miles and Rostam Batmanglij first teamed up nearly a decade ago for Discovery, and they’ve been working together intermittently ever since. On Ra Ra Riot’s last album, Need Your Light, which came out back in 2016, they wrote a song called Water together. Now, Ra Ra Riot have returned with a new song, Bad To Worse, which is presumably a pre-cursor to a new album.

the bird and the bee - My Love

A: the bird and the bee
S: My Love

I hope everybody enjoyed yesterday's Record Store Day to the fullest. I spend the day debating whether or not I should buy the reissue of the bird and the bee's Ray Guns Are Not Just The Future. It's 35 minutes past midnight now and I am still not sure. But I noticed I never posted the band on here before so maybe that should be my answer.

Dayglow - Can I Call You Tonight?

A: Dayglow
S: Can I Call You Tonight?

Meet Dayglow - the alternative indie-pop project of Texas-based artist Sloan Struble. Along with being a senior in high school, he is also quite the ambitious frontman, writing, composing, and self-producing all the sounds his band will eventually play in his makeshift studio, also known as a corner of his room which he has spent the last few years inhabiting and perfecting. And yet, when listening to Can I Call You Tonight?, Dayglow’s second single, it doesn’t sound like the work of a flustered student, but instead the work of a mature, seasoned professional, capturing the essence of what pure indie pop should be – echoed vocals, bright, textured synth, and a wonderfully bittersweet lyrical narrative somehow both wistful and hopeful all at once.

... could you tell me what's real anymore?

BETWEEN FRIENDS - affection

A: BETWEEN FRIENDS
S: affection

With an undeniable catchy sound, Savannah & Brandon Hudson aka Between Friends share how they keep desperately looking for affection and yet they can’t find it since they are searching for it in all the wrong places possible. Luckily they found some funky beats along the way.

Japanese Breakfast - Boyish

A: Japanese Breakfast
S: Boyish

Boyish, the second single from Japanese Breakfast’s sophomore record Soft Sounds From Another Planet, is a profound example of how Michelle Zauner has grown since her solo beginnings. According to Zauner, she wanted Boyish to be a grandiose Roy Orbison-esque ballad. It does immediately recall In Dreams, and does it justice too.

Future Islands - A Dream Of You And Me

A: Future Islands
S: A Dream Of You And Me

According to singer Samuel T. Herring, this song is about standing out before a great body of water wrestling with a question. The single’s art cover is by Elena Johnston who, along with the band’s bassist William Cashion, also directed the official stop-motion animation video.

Cate Le Bon - Daylight Matters

A: Cate Le Bon
S: Daylight Matters

It was on a mountainside in Cumbria that the first whispers of Cate Le Bon’s fifth studio album poked their buds above the earth. There’s a strange romanticism to going a little bit crazy and playing the piano to yourself and singing into the night, she says, recounting the year living solitarily in the Lake District which gave way to Reward. Out May 24.

Requin Chagrin - Mauvais présage

A: Requin Chagrin
S: Mauvais présage

Taking distance from the lo-fi surf pop of her previous project, Requin Chagrin's new songs and the title of her second album offer a more sophisticated structure and a thicker sound. The summery, sepia-tinged echoes of this cocktail of dream pop and psych-pop can still be enjoyed on the beach though. And below.
