Linkin Park - Iridescent

A: Linkin Park
S: Iridescent
C: A Thousand Suns

Summer has definitely arrived, you find the proof for this in the following: Your agenda is either cramped with cinema visits, all for the biggest blockbusters this year has to offer (Transformers 3, for example). Or you will spend the next couple of weekends visiting some larger than life festivals (pick your own). But the biggest proof of all: It's the time of the big stadium anthems, much like this one.

Devlin Feat. Yasmin - Runaway

A: Devlin Feat. Yasmin
S: Runaway
C: Bud, Sweat & Beers

There might be some of you who don't know yet, so it's time I spread the fantastically shocking excitement. I am moving me, myself and this little blog of mine from Zurich to Berlin on Friady. So it's time to say goodbye and all that - which I'm not very good at unless it's posting a song or two related to the subject: I gotta leave, I gotta go, there's nothing here for me no more ... and I run away.

Theophilus London - I Want You (Marvin Gaye Cover)

A: Theophilus London
S: I Want You (Marvin Gaye Cover)
C: I Want You

OMG (as in: Oh My Ghetto blaster - the only God I believe in). I can't believe I've had this album for months and never even listened to it. Now that I did I know fair well that this will be the soundtrack to my Summer 2011. And in order to prevent you from making the same mistake, I advise you to buy it too, immediately if not sooner.

When Saints Go Machine - Add Ends

A: When Saints Go Machine
S: Add Ends
C: Konkylie

When Saints Go Machine describe their music as when pop goes electronic. They are from Copenhagen and have just released their debut album. I am not that super duper keen on the video, maybe, but I love the band's name, for obvious reasons. As for the song, goes without saying, once the thing starts playing, you cannot switch it off. There is a free download waiting for you if you click on the following link or plain simply here.

The Shoes - Wastin' Time

A: The Shoes
S: Wastin' Time
C: Crack My Bones

What a perfect song for a perfect day like today, what a perfect song for this perfect blog of mine. Joke. Anyway, love it. What I hate though, and never really will understand, is why the album is buyable on the French iTunes store and not the Swiss one. It makes me want to pull my hair out, actually pull Steve Jobs hair out - if he had any, and send it by fireworks with one big fat bright bang into the cosmos.

The Wombats - Techno Fan

A: The Wombats
S: Techno Fan
C: This Modern Glitch

.. I never knew I was a Techno Fan! Well, neither did I. The Wombats are the kind of band I would kind of never buy an album but then kind of love their songs whenever I stumble across one. So that's good I guess. Or downright lazy on my behalf. If you check Wikipedia, on the English site, they are an indie pop band. On the German one though, they are an alternative rock one. They might want to replace their translator!

Bon Iver - Calgary

A: Bon Iver
S: Calgary
C: Bon Iver

Bon Iver's self titled album was released today a week ago, so I might still be just in time to post this before it's so yesterday. The band's name (I didn't even know it was a band but thought it was a solo artist) is derived from the French phrase bon hiver (French pronunciation: [bɔn‿ivɛːʁ]), meaning "good winter". Sometimes it's worth popping over to Wikipedia, then again, sometimes it's not.

Wiley - Numbers In Action

A: Wiley
S: Numbers In Action
C: 100% Publishing

Late again I guess. So anyway, since this is Numbers In Action, it's the perfect time to mention that 25 is my favorite one. Why? Because it rhymes so perfectly with 'come alive'. Not that come alive would be a phrase to get excited about. On a second thought, might be 27. My b'day is on a 27th, my aunt's too, a month before, and her b'friend's b'day a month before hers. Makes sense, I think.

CockNBullKid - Hold On To Your Misery

A: CockNBullKid
S: Hold On To Your Misery
C: Adulthood

CockNBullKid's new single and video is out today and called Yellow. I like it but I prefer this one much much. Not the video so much, but the song, well - not the song, but the lyrics. After being told to cheer up and stop being cynical for almost 29 years, this is my newest hymn I shall chant for the rest of my life: A little cynicism will do you good! And: Hold on to your desperation, the pleasure principle at it's very foundation - love it!

The Cape Race - They're Young, They're In Love

A: The Cape Race
S: They're Young, They're In Love
C: Now, Voyager (out 04.07.11)

The Cape Race are from Manchester, cool no? And they are young, and they are in love, apparently. They are totally generous too - why? Because they let you pre-order their debut mini album (whatever that is - what is it though? And what's the difference between an EP and a mini album?) absolutely for free and legal and all that if you register your email address on their homepage!

I Break Horses - Hearts

A: I Break Horses
S: Hearts
C: Hearts (out 15.08.11)

Oh I love it and love it and love it. Most of all, the bands name, because I like everything that is running around on four hooves: horses, ponies, cows, zebras, whatever. I Break Horses are Maria Lindén and her musical partner Fredrik Balck, both from Stockholm, Sweden. Then there is the video, which I think is nothing but pure stunningness. I know there is no such thing as such a word, but I think there bloody well should be.

Foster The People - Pumped Up Kicks

A: Foster The People
S: Pumped Up Kicks
C: Torches

As it's probably one of the most latest posts ever, I keep this one short. I was boogie down the dance floor all night long, until the very early hours; and then went to work all day long until the very late hours. As for the Band: Foster the People is an indie pop band from LA and Torches their debut album.

Breton - December

A: Breton
S: December
C: Counter Balance - EP

This is December. Well it's not, it's a month called June but by the looks of it, through my ghetto window, might as well be winter. Anyway, don't really know what to write, had one-two-three beers too many last night and my head is still a blur. You know, the feeling you get when you think: How can I be so thirsty today when I drank so much last night? Story of my life that is. Joking.

Lady Gaga - The Edge Of Glory

A: Lady Gaga
S: The Edge Of Glory
C: Born This Way

Let's camp up Friday, shall we? After all, it's pride weekend in the little city where I live. So I checked: Judas was out on the 3rd of May, this is out on the 16th of June. You do the maths. Then I made up my mind about Lady Restless being a made product or not: Behind every product there's a thought, behind every thought there's a person. Doesn't matter to me if it's her or somebody else.

Vanessa Carlton - Carousel

A: Vanessa Carlton
S: Carousel
C: Rabbits On The Run (out 27.07.11)

Is that a sample of 'True Colors' in there? Is it? I'm awfully bad with melodies because I mainly concentrate on the lyrics so I can never be quite sure what with my small ears. Anyway, it's Vanessa Carlton, the one who walked a thousand miles to be with you and then never quite returned to that point of success but I still like her and her new album Rabbits On The Run is out next month.

Vetiver - Wonder Why

A: Vetiver
S: Wonder Why
C: The Errant Charm

Look, it's the sound of Indie Summer! At least that's what it sounds to me. Or looks like. Kind of sweet, kind of cute, and totally adorable. I always cherish those days and months between an act actually having enough money to make a music video and hitting the big lottery. Imagination is at it's best, and it doesn't get ruined by budget or image plans. So this is it, as good as it gets!

Frida Hyvonen - I Drive My Friend

A: Frida Hyvonen
S: I Drive My Friend
C: Until Death Comes

Frida is driving, so you don't have to. On that note I'd like to point out how super busy I am today, just about to hit the airport in Ibiza to catch a plan back to Germany, to then drive the drive (Frida won't be driving me after all) and finally get on a train back to Zurich. Don't read this if you're not up for some trash blogging. But for now, I'll leave you with this song.

The Pierces - You'll Be Mine

A: The Pierces
S: You'll Be Mine
C: You & I

One, two, three. It's The Pierces. Not exactly new, not exactly exceptional, but down right gorgeous. One, two, three. I do admit I bought the whole album only because of their styling. One, two, three. I blame the world for being unfair. Because if it wasn't, I would have been born in the 50s, spend my childhood during the 60s and had my teenage years in the 70s. One, two, three. I like.

Coldplay - Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall

A: Coldplay
S: Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall
C: Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall - Single

I predict: This is going to be big. Huge, actually. Massive. If you're not oh so sure, check the lyrics. Nothing but brilliant is: I’d rather be a comma than a full stop. CLever beyond believe. I totally trip on that line. So I've had this on repeat ll day yesterday while splashing my feet in a hotel pool and realized, the world is still a better place thanks to Chris Martins voice.

Tim Bendzko - Nur Noch Kurz Die Welt Retten

A: Tim Bendzko
S: Nur Noch Kurz Die Welt Retten
C: Wenn Worte Meine Sprache Wären (out 17.06.11)

So today's song is in German. For all of you who don't get the most beautiful language of all (there is some irony in there, somewhere, but I do like it), here's the important part, translated. Tim, Ben, whatever his name, is saving the world, or trying to, being super busy, and missing half his life, all the important stuff actually, while checking mails and stuff you know.

Rihanna - Man Down

A: Rihanna
S: Man Down
C: Loud

Can I have a lazy one today? Can I please? Ok then.
Rum bum bum bum rum bum bum bum rum bum bum bum.
Man Down.
Rum bum bum bum rum bum bum bum rum bum bum bum.
Man Down.
By the way, it's Rihanna's new video to her new single of her oh so rum bum not so new but latest album Loud.

Kings Of Leon - Back Down South

A: Kings Of Leon
S: Back Down South
C: Come Around Sundown

Look, it's the new video of that band we all like. And even if this doesn't get 1150 likes today, I am pretty sure there isn't anybody who does not like the Followill quartet. What else to add? Ah yeah, I never thought I'd hear myself say this but I think I preferred Caleb with longer hair, and I'm not big on longer hair at all. Normally, you know.

Morning Parade - A&E

A: Morning Parade
S: A&E
C: Under The Stars - EP

I love the beat to this. Can you feel it? Yes you can. Try to adjust the volume upwards (as in louder of course), because the recording is either quite quiet or I've gone rather deaf, which wouldn't surprise me at all, actually. Anyway, Morning Parade are a five piece band from Harlow, Essex, making rock tracks with a distinct 90s dance anthem influence.

Kaiser Chiefs - Little Shocks

A: Kaiser Chiefs
S: Little Shocks
C: The Future Is Medieval

The Future Is Medieval! And because it is, you can create your new Kaiser Chiefs album yourself. Visit the chiefs website and you get a choice of 20 songs. Chose the 10 songs you like most, create a cover and check-out for £7.50 - which is fair pay. You then get the option to sell your album and make £1 for every copy you sell. Loving it already!

This is how it works:

Arctic Monkeys - Brick By Brick

A: Arctic Monkeys
S: Brick By Brick
C: Suck It And See (out now)

Having waited so long for this to be posted, I almost missed the perfect day to do so (which would have been last Friday when the album was released but then there was Oz Week so today is the day). The first two Monkey albums are in my Top 10 of best albums of all times. I don't dig their new stuff as much, but am fine with a band having to progress and process and evolve and all that.

Kylie Minogue - 2 Hearts - OZ WEEK 7

A: Kylie Minogue
S: 2 Hearts
C: X

With Oz Week on it's final day, it shouldn't come as a surprise I opt for the biggest pop export Australia ever had to sing today's song. And with me being only a couple of hours away from today's Take That concert at Manchester City Stadium, reuniting and all that - you've read the story, I thought I go with Mr. Williams and La Minogue duetting on 'Kids'. But that wasn't up for embedding so I figure this will do just nicely.

Kid Sam - We're Mostly Made of Water - OZ WEEK 6

A: Kid Sam
S: We're Mostly Made of Water
C: Kid Sam

Oz Week is almost coming to an end and I've been running around the Greater city of Manchester today, learning one very important thing for every foreigner blogger to be: There is no, as in none, free Wifi to be found anywhere. There might have been in Starsucks, but they run out of access cards. So I'll leave you with this short post and a gorgeous song by Kid Sam. I like.

Tim & Jean - I Can Show You - OZ WEEK 5

A: Tim & Jean
S: I Can Show You
C: Like What

I've got the feeling that Oz Week is already coming to an end before it really started. Quite shocking. Anyway, Tim & Jean are the two guys who have been friends forever and released their debut about a month ago or so, signed to Mercury Records and situated in Perth according to their Myspace and Melbourne according to Wiki. Juicy detail really, although it proves that you shouldn't believe everything you read online. Or offline.

Cut Copy - Need You Now - OZ WEEK 4

A: Cut Copy
S: Need You Now
C: Zonoscope

Next chapter in Oz Week is called Cut Copy and they are from Melbourne. Funny that most Australian music acts these days are duos. Anyway, the video looks like something like hipsters olympics. If hipsters did anything like sports. But they don't, so it's not. I read a comment on Facebook a while ago, saying: You look like a muscles hipster boy. And I thought: there is no such thing as a muscled hipster. Just saying.

Cloud Control - There Is Nothing In The Water We Can't Fight - OZ WEEK 3

A: Cloud Control
S: There Is Nothing In The Water We Can't Fight
C: Bliss Release

Moving on with Oz Week, it's Cloud Control. And look, the song title is super duper extra bigxtra long, which I love, which is the thing I love most about music. Cloud Control originate from the Blue Mountains near Sydney, Australia - just to put some geographical info in. Bliss Release is their debut, being signed to l Ivy League Records, I hope there are many more to come.
