M. Ward to me is pure genius and purely underrated. Which isn't a bad thing, I'm just pointing it out. Matthew Stephen Ward is also known as a member of She & Him (I like, ten times) and Monsters of Folk (never even heard of them - ah hang on, some band he formed with Mr. Oberst himself). Amazing Grace is M. Ward's favourite song, by the way.

Not sure if I told this story before but it's always a good one: Leslie Feist started her music career in a punk band. Not all singer/songwritery as you might like to think. And she only changed the musical division because she had to, recovering from vocal cord damage, which is no good for a punk band singer. Well not for any singer.

Needless to say this is insane. OK Go set up over 1000 instruments over two miles of desert outside Los Angeles. A Chevy was outfitted with retractable pneumatic arms designed to play the instruments, and the band recorded this version of the song, singing as they played the instrument array with the car. Without stuntmans or stand-ins, of course.
