... take a walk, walk with me - no don't talk, let it be.

A: Muchuu
S: Somebody Tell Me
C: On Beyond

Honestly, I'm just going to copy/paste the band's internet 'about' section today. Call me lazy. Brother-sister duo Muchuu (Japanese – meaning to be in an ecstatic delirious trance) have been writing and recording music since 2008. The combination of George's piano arrangements and Millie's melodies and poetic lyrics makes for beautiful, hooky, electro music.

29 November 2011

... can the heart crumble while devotion stands?

A: Maria Taylor
S: Masterplan
C: Overlook

Maria Taylor. Mmmh, what to say. Masterplan isn't the current single, so there is no video. But I love the song. As most of Maria's songs. If the voice sounds familiar, you might know it from Azure Ray, a duo she used to play in. Or because some songs were featured on Grey's Anatomy. Or on Bones. Or because she used to date Connor Oberst. Or still does.

28 November 2011

... and we'll hate what we've lost - but we'll love what we find.

A: The Paper Kites
S: Featherstone
C: Woodland

This might look like a 3 minutes 53 long commercial for ugg boots (yes the band is from Australia and yes it is amazing what a tiny bit of slow motion can do in a clip), but it is much more, of course. As for the rest of the band's biography, here is what it says on their official facebook page: Hello, we're The Paper Kites, we play songs.

27 November 2011

... the years go by so fast - let's hope the next beats the last.

Smith & Burrows - When The Thames Froze (Official Video) from PIASGermany on Vimeo.

A: Smith & Burrows
S: When The Thames Froze
C: Funny Looking Angels

It's Tom Smith (whom you might know as the singer of Editors) and Andy Burrows (We Are Scientists, Razorlight) doing some sort of winter slash Christmas album, in a not so classical way, which is why I like it so much. I get the slight feeling indie is discovering the festive season anyway, never OTT. Which is why this is big. Huge. I like.

26 November 2011

... she wrote the verse to all of his dreams.

A: Oliver Tank
S: Last Night I Heard Everything In Slow Motion
C: Dreams - EP

If you like James Blake, you are going to love Sydney born Oliver Tank, who's like 21 years old, just saying. I'm never one to compare artists, but there is some similarity here, and with my love for artists from down under, I'm excited about this one. The use of the vibrant violin, combined with that thing that sounds like electrical castanets - gorgeous.

25 November 2011

... when my feet bounce around - in the dark, in the park.

A: Dillon
S: Tip Tapping
C: This Silence Kills

So where are we. Friday. Coffee and lovely lemon cake for breakfast. And lunch. Most likely. Like Dillon, too. All the lyrics are up on the homepage. Haven't seen that in a while. Wonder why. Not. Reading that tons of music blogs have surrendered to Dominique Dillon de Byington before me. Not feeling very special today. My Mac Book is making funny noises.

24 November 2011

... everybody thinks they’re having fun - getting wrecked up and making wrecked up friends.

A: The School
S: All I Wanna Do
C: All I Wanna Do - EP

The School - another band with such a fantastic name that it's practically impractical to google. By the way, did you check google yesterday? On the main page they integrated a riddle/game to play (actually called a doodle), in honor of some Stanislaw Lem, who would have turned 90 some weeks ago, if he hadn't died 5 years ago.

23 November 2011

... everything you want - it will happen again.

A: Penguin Prison
S: Don't Fuck With My Money
C: Penguin Prison

So I guess this is political. But I did some and my research: This track, as in the album it is on, was released at the end of September, while Occupy Wall Street (as in OWS) started on the 17th. So knowing one or two things about album productions, I think it's fair to say the track, originally, didn't have a direct connection to the protest. But if it adds up so nicely in the end, who actually cares?

22 November 2011

... I have been dreaming you've been dreaming about me.

By Your Hand - Los Campesinos! from Los Campesinos! on Vimeo.

A: Los Campesinos!
S: By Your Hand
C: Hello Sadness

They are from Cardiff, Wales, and the name translates as 'farmer', being spanish (ain't I bright). At least that's what I found out after flicking through my blog yesterday, realizing that I had to up the male voices a bit. Which is, I do admit, not the easiest thing. Hello Sadness is Los Campesinos! fourth studio album, and since it's getting closer to christmas, I do advise you to buy liberally.

21 November 2011

... all that glitter and all that gold - won't buy you happy.

A: Rebecca Ferguson
S: Glitter & Gold
C: Heaven (out 05.12.11)

I might just put this on repeat for the rest of the week, while chanting something that goes like: Never underestimate a runner up. Anyway, bare with my euphoria, but it's countdown time. Two weeks to go until Lady Ferguson's debut is released. And it seems to me like I've been waiting forever, me, the most impatient person I know or anybody else I know knows. And believe me, I've done a proper survey.

20 November 2011

... and surely it's right and meat and cheap.

A: Black Lips
S: Raw Meat
C: Arabia Mountain

Black and white had me hooked from the first second, but I think the video is super spunky anyway. And why? Because it's co-produced by Urban Outfitters as part of their music video series, maybe. That reminds me, last time I went to UO, which was a year ago, I got a parking ticket and one quite pissed off girl friend being quite mad. And I didn't even buy anything. shop on the bright side, is all I'm saying.

18 November 2011

... I never knew daylight could be so violent.

Florence + the machine "No light, no light" from RENS on Vimeo.

A: Florence + The Machine
S: No Light, No Light
C: Ceremonials

Well I don't have to say much about this, do I? It's Miss Welsh, freshly back from her comeback/burnout, releasing one video straight after the other, looking top with the reddest red hair I've ever seen. And love, of course. Anyway, as I have stated before, I love Ceremonials, her new album. And much more than her last one, which I bought right when it was released, and have never ever listened to.

... I've asked about you and they've told me things.

A: Drake Feat. Rihanna
S: Take Care
C: Take Care

So listen up, the new Rihanna album is out today, called Talk Talk Talk. This track isn't on it, because it's on Drake's new album. As for Rihanna, after featuring her on here with Coldplay, I think she is shaping up to be a perfect duet partner. As for her own album, it's not my cup of Glühwein. Maybe it will be, if it's a grower. As for now, Take Care is how we start this weekend, slowly but surely.

17 November 2011

... oh you're a prince in some world - but not in mine.

A: Lissy Trullie
S: Boy Boy
C: Boy Boy - Single

Lissy Trullie, in full called Elizabeth "Lizzy" McChesney, is an American singer/songwriter and former model, says my friend Wiki-something-something. In addition to modeling, she worked as a dishwasher, a janitor, and a disc jockey, in Manhattan, of course. Anyway, there's a comment to this video on YouTube which I simply have to share: I can't listen to this, it gives me lesbian intentions.

16 November 2011

... cause when the laughter's gone - I know I must be moving on.

Katzenjammer - I Will Dance (When I Walk Away) von universalmusicdeutschland

A: Katzenjammer
S: I Will Dance (When I Walk Away)
C: A Kiss Before You Go

Well I love country music, and all that jazz. It just sounds so hand made, like totally handcrafted, as in rural, I think. Plus country music always has fantastic lyrics, like ten times. I mean how good is I Will Dance When I Walk Away? Told you. As for the band, they are from Norway. Which is kind of strange, probably, but at least it explains the short shirts. And skirts. Which I love, of course.

15 November 2011

2 Years Anniversary ... we gon' party like it's yo birthday.

A: 50 Cent
S: In Da Club
C: Get Rich Or Die Tryin'

V: http://www.tape.tv/vid/286

How very annoying, I prepared the whole text on the S-Bahn this morning, and now it's all gone. Anyway, there wasn't much importance to it. Just that it's this blog anniversary/birthday/juhubilee. Well it was yesterday, but I was busy posting other things, obviously. So thanks to everybody for joining, commenting, and all that. It's a blast, and now let's party, like it's yo birthday.

14 November 2011

... meine Welle und mein Strand - mein Land, meine Palmen und mein Sand.

A: Rammstein
S: Mein Land
C: Made In Germany (1995 - 2011) - out 02.12.11

If you don't speak German, you probably won't get the lyrics. Which isn't too much of a deal. Because there isn't much to it anyway. It goes something like this: Where are you off to? I'm going from east to west, from country to country by myself .. my country, you are in my country, etc. Which leads to the conclusion that I'm posting this only because of the video. Which is, if you know the band, pretty ace.

13 November 2011

... with the voices in my head - the clever words I never said.

A: Duran Duran
S: Girl Panic
C: All You Need Is Love

Last but not least. Last time I posted a Duran Duran song on here, nobody seemed to care about it. So I figured I'm going to give this one a miss. Which lead to people wondering why I wouldn't post it. Which is what I'm doing now. Strictly pointing out that the song is oh so ok, but the video pretty much ten times amazing. Which it is. It's like George Michael Freedom, only double trouble.

12 November 2011

... I laughed so hard - I fell down. I cursed these lanes I walked on.

A: Department Of Eagles
S: No One Does It Like You
C: In Ear Park

This is a song I once new, and then lost. And then found again. as in now. Which is why it's always good to get new people on the blog. As they say: When one song ends, another one starts. Something like this. Maybe God's involved too. Anyway, there are people who measure their days in years or relationships, I do this with songs and records. Which is a much healthier way to do thing, I think.

11 November 2011

... I get sick of just about everyone - and I hide in my baby's arms.

A: Kurt Vile
S: Baby's Arms
C: Smoke Ring For My Halo

So here's what I learned today: If you live in a flatshare where the internet is turned off during the night (like I do), and you have to get up at 4 in the morning (like I did), to travel to a super interesting workshop (where I am), where people expect you to write different things than your personal music blog (yes, still me, myself and I), you most probably end up posting a certain song super late.

10 November 2011

... come out of the dark and into the day.

A: New Look
S: The Ballad
C: New Look

Here's a thought. I know this blog is not political, but I was wondering anyway if the resignation of the Italian Prime Minister or whatever his exact function was, if there was any, shouldn't be discussed in the political section of the newspapers, but the celebrity one. I mean why move the old man now. Anyway, I don't even know why I'm writing this. Enjoy the song, enjoy the day, etc.

09 November 2011

... hold me close in every single hour (oh, my love).

A: Anna Calvi
S: No More Words
C: Anna Calvi

There are close to no lyrics in this song. It's basically all Oh, My Love. Which you don't really realize, at least I didn't, when I heard it first, yesterday. But then I might have been distracted, because I got a personal remixed version. Which I love. Just saying, I never got a personalized remix before. As for Anna Calvi, from England, released her debut this year, which NME called the first best album of 2011.

08 November 2011

... tell me love, will we ever know ourselves.

A: CITIZENS!
S: True Romance
C: (don't have a clue)

How whatever is that video? If this doesn't make your day, nothing will. It's like synchronized swimming, without the swimming, without the pool and set in some alpine landscape. Where else? Very Jane Fonda, very I think I might just wanna pour a Gin Tonic at 10am, as in now. Besides that, I have to say, I hate people on public transport having bad breath in the morning. Actually I hate all people having bad breath.

07 November 2011

... one should never forget - that there are wonders, we haven’t seen yet.

A: The Sound Of Arrows
S: Magic
C: Voyage

The W.O.R.L.D. is full of M.A.G.I.C., the video is totally O.T.T. and the album is finally out. The Sound of Arrows release their debut today. It only took them like forever and a day to do it. Anyway, yes there is a kids choir singing in the background but I figured it's monday and hopefully nobody will notice. Facts & Figures: The band is from Sweden, not Spain, as you might think, watching the video.

06 November 2011

... I'll get over you I know I will - I'll pretend my ship's not sinking.

Go West-King Of Wishful Thinking von adiis

A: Go West
S: The King Of Wishful Thinking
C: Pretty Woman - OST

Hands up if you instantly know which movie this song is from. Ok here's the thing: You can call me the campiest thing that ever wrote a music blog, but my big B day is approaching, and I'll hit the big 3 this year. You do the maths, I'm an 80s child (thank fcuk - wouldn't want to be anything after that), contemplating some sort of nostalgia at the moment, if you know what I mean. Oh, it's Pretty Woman, btw.

05 November 2011

Starfucker - Quality Time

A: Starfucker
S: Quality Time
C: Reptilians

Oh I love the video, it's a bit like Dancing On My Own, by Robyn, totally reinterpreted, if you know what I mean. And the bands name is ace too, obviously. Is it a band or a single artist? Hang on, I'll check. I think it's a band. Anyway, I just realized that this must be the first all instrumental song I post on here. Which is kind of odd, but it feels like total avant-garde. Just kidding. Seriously.

04 November 2011

... I've given up a thousand times - but I will never quit.

We Cut Corners "Pirate's Life" from Kijek / Adamski on Vimeo.

A: We Cut Corners
S: Pirate's Life
C: Today I Realised I Could Go Home Backwards (out 11.11.11)

I think they are from Ireland. Yes? Don't know. Funny, if I don't know anything about a band I consider it super important to talk about them. If I do know stuff I think it's better to talk about, well, myself. So anyway, gorgeous song, gorgeous video and the best part is, if you visit the bands homepage, you can download a couple of songs for free, see: http://www.wecutcorners.net/

03 November 2011

... keep this firmly placed inbetween your lips.

The Good Natured - 'Skeleton' from Brian Fawcett - Cinematographer on Vimeo.

A: The Good Natured
S: Skeleton
C: Skeleton - EP

Broad British accent, I like. And if you ever needed a definition for an emo haircut, here you go. Although the music is anything but emo, of course. I think. Anyway, it's too early to make stuff up on my own so here's something or nothing about the band: The Good Natured are an English electropop band, consisting of Sarah McIntosh on vocals and keyboards, her brother Hamish McIntosh on bass and George Hinton (an acquaintance of Sarah from university - bless) on drums.

02 November 2011

... light me up a cigarette - and put it in my mouth.

I'm not yours - Angus and Julia Stone (2011) from Nick Murray Willis on Vimeo.

A: Angus & Julia Stone
S: I'm Not Yours
C: Down The Way

Now there isn't much to say about Angus & Julia Stone, besides that they are brilliant and that I haven't met nobody yet who doesn't love them. And that they are from down under, of course. There is a short story to this song. Julia first wrote a song called I'm Yours, and they only played that for couple of times, and then she wrote this one. And they played it many times and lived happily ever after.

01 November 2011

.. the more they give, the more I steal - but I've always come clean.

A: Little Majorette
S: Bite The Bullet
C: Rifle Heart

I like Little Majorette, like really. Major. Now, I'm not one to compare bands, but every time I listen to this album, I think Little Majorette are the better version of Oh Land. I know, there's room for Oh Land too. But this sounds like more fun, to me. Anyway, this trio called LM is from Sweden, they all play in other bands I've never heard of, and they describe their debut album as melodic bliss. I like!
