Grimes - So Heavy I Fell Through the Earth

A: Grimes
S: So Heavy I Fell Through the Earth

Grimes has released a new song, So Heavy I Fell Through The Earth, the latest single from her upcoming album Miss_Anthropocene, which still does not have a release date. It’s purportedly the third single that will be included on the album. So Heavy I Fell Through The Earth is an airy and dark six-and-a-half-minute dirge. Grimes has shared two different versions of it - the full-length Art Mix and the shorter Algorithm Mix.

... cus I’m full of love for you.

Billie Eilish - everything i wanted

A: Billie Eilish
S: everything i wanted

Billie dropped a new song, dedicated to her brother and producer Finneas, a tender, just-shy-of-saccharine ode to his support. Layered vocals swell and surround her in the bridge as she asks, over and over, if she would do this all again, if she knew what she knew now. It is the greatest cliché of celebrity: to have everything you’ve wanted and to still end up miserable. But Billie dismantles the trope into a raw reverie, flushing out and flashing at her pain.

... as long as I'm here, no one can hurt you.

The acclaimed artist’s third solo release features contributions from a versatile roster of high profile cohorts, including the legendary Laraaji, featured on the record's debut. Chromatics - Move A Mountain

A: Chromatics
S: Move A Mountain

Following last year’s Camera, Oregon based Chromatics have now released their sparkling seventh album, Closer To Grey. Taken from the album, single Move A Mountain may be a more reflective, downtempo offering than previous releases, though it loses none of Chromatics’ trademark shimmering splendour. Oozing the twinkling, emotion-strewn vocals of Ruth Radelet alongside delicate melodies and a swirling soundscape, a stirring ballad is created, sending shivers down the spine with its wistful melancholy.
... waiting for you to call, you won't.

Beck - Uneventful Days

A: Beck
S: Uneventful Days

Dev Hynes pays tribute to Beck’s ever-shifting imagery with his reverent video for the latter’s new song Uneventful Days. The Blood Orange songwriter fills the hazy clip - which also includes intro Hyperlife - with subtle winks to Beck’s visuals and overall aesthetic: In one scene, a man stares at documents on his cluttered work desk as a rumpled Beck poster falls off the wall, in another, a man decked out in a vintage Beck T-shirt cries in his car. Hyperspace is out November 22.

... you might know my name, you don't know my mind.

George Michael - This Is How (We Want You To Get High)

A: George Michael
S: This Is How (We Want You To Get High)

Of all the high-profile rock and pop casualties in 2016, George Michael has had the quietest posthumous career. David Bowie and Prince’s deaths led to an unlocking of the vaults and a scouring for unreleased material. But Michael’s estate has largely kept things low-key. Now there’s a new single, recorded the year before the singer died. Whether it signals an opening of the floodgates of unreleased music remains to be seen, but somehow you doubt it.

... this is how we want you to get by.

Thom Yorke - Last I Heard (…He Was Circling The Drain)

A: Thom Yorke
S: Last I Heard (…He Was Circling The Drain)

Thom Yorke dropped his third solo LP, ANIMA, back in June - and one of the album cuts, Last I Heard (…He Was Circling The Drain), just got a music video. It is composed of more than 3,000 hand-illustrated frames, and in the process of its creation Art Camp experimented with clay sculpture, 3D figurines, crowd simulations, charcoal dust and more. They explained they made the entire video and threw it away, made it again, threw it away, dozens of times. This, of course, was stressful but also beautiful.

... I woke up with a feeling I just could not take.

HAIM - Now I'm In It

A: HAIM
S: Now I'm In It

HAIM are back with their second new track of the year, Now I'm In It. Where their last single Summer Girl built its foundation on a breezy demeanor, this one is dense and laser-focused. Danielle wrote of the single that there have been times in our/their lives where we/they have felt like we are stuck in a dark hole. This track speaks to that emotion.

... I'm alone in my head.

Tame Impala - It Might Be Time

A: Tame Impala
S: It Might Be Time

Tame Impala’s The Slow Rush is gathering pace, as Kevin Parker and Co. confirm the album's release date and drop a third track from it, It Might Be Time. Just last week, the Aussie psychedelic rock outfit teased their fourth studio LP, then set the record straight with its title and cover art, alongside an ambiguous 2020 release plan. The mystery is no more. Slow Rush will arrive February 14 - almost five years after the release of Currents. Countdown below.

Mumford & Sons - Blind Leading The Blind

A: Mumford & Sons
S: Blind Leading The Blind

Mumford & Sons have released a new single called Blind Leading The Blind - you can hear the track below. The song - which is the band’s first new material since the release of their 2018 album Delta - is one that, according to a press release, they’ve been working on, re-shaping, re-writing and generally re-imagining over the last 18 months.

... I am not known if I’m not seen or heard.

Dua Lipa - Don't Start Now

A: Dua Lipa
S: Don't Start Now

Dua Lipa doesn’t care on Don’t Start Now. She doesn’t care about you, the bad ex-boyfriend who, now, suddenly, seems to care because she’s so moved on it’s scary. And she’s dancing with someone else, or at least she could if she wanted. And her voice sounds stronger than ever, inching closer and closer toward a natural deployment of melisma, not dramatically Aguilerian but more robust than that of the young singer who relied, however effectively, on vocal modulation to launch New Rules and its chorus into the anthemic stratosphere. Take off below.

... if you don't wanna see me.
