They are back. So I read. Howling Bells were some sort of opening act for some other act couple of years back, and I felt in love with them instantly. Funny enough I forgot about the main act. So the Bells will release their third album in September, it's been produced in Vegas (I like) by Killers' Mark Stoermer (who I interviewed once - not the sharpest knife in the drawer but still - I like as well). Now if you think the band sounds or looks familiar but you don't know them by this name, you might just be right. They change their name more often than producing a record, listing Brother, Kill the Arcade, and Wolf Am I.

It's Björk, it's still pop, she didn't kill it, she never will.

Once again, for those who just tuned in: I'm From Barcelona are not from Barcelona but from Sweden. They are a super-massive indie-pop group, and when I say massive, I mean it. The group contains no less than 30 members. As for their music, it's all so fantastically Swedish dietly-lightly stuff that spring lasts only about 12 months a year... but it goes with summer very nicely, too.

So. S.C.U.M is obviously not the most cleverest name to pick for a band. When it comes to band names, I think nowadays you have to opt for creations that are easy to google. As in the French Duo "One Two" - how on earth are you every going to find any of their material. So, S.C.U.M on facebook and twitter, added the delightful number 1968 to their name. Which is clever, but then it's not. And I'm just in an annoyed mood altogether today.

NME.com described their sound as “tribal electro like a south London Gang Gang Dance” - who comes up with such things? That's what I want to know.

Doesn't sound much like it but the two-boys-and-one-chick trio is from Belgium. That's the country where, according to the British people, the best chocolate comes from. Which is obviously ridiculous and only demonstrates, once again: Don't trust these Brits when it comes to food. So anyway, but Belgium might have a more exciting music scene than Switzerland. I'll give you, them, and everybody else that one.

I kind of figured that making a live-slash-tour video was a clever idea to do for the Detectives - then I realized it was basically just one concert that has been filmed and it's only their second single so maybe there is a touch of laziness to the whole thing. Anyway, what's with blocking the cigarette at the end of the video! Indie's going downhill. Still, the song is a grower, takes about 10 plays to like it, but who's counting.

I always think retro oldie nostalgia songs are best consumed when served with hot temperatures outside, that's to say holidays and summer. Maybe Frank is an exception there, because he's best all year round. Anyway, so since it's summer and hot I tuned into my Death Proof album today and re-discovered this smashing little anthem by the The Coasters (an American rhythm and blues/rock and roll vocal group back from the 50s - says Wiki).

So they went on and on about why this will be the hit, and that Austra's career will be done after that. Look who it is! It's Robyn and guess what, she's dancing on her own - a kind of Flashdance what a feeling and you know the rest dance. Anyway, NME dissed the song including the clip so baldly and badly that I started wondering if I wouldn't pick Robyn over the magazine if it came to a opinionated showdown much like David versus Goliath. Right, I guess I'm drifting off, after all, David is jumping around in some Mickey Mouse tights.

Everytime somebody asks me about my favourite band, I mention these Monkeys. Then I never really know why because I missed the first album, loved the second one, never warmed up to the third one and think they release all the wrong songs as singles on this, as in their fourth, one. Still the title of this tune alone is worth a post, super long and a duper metaphor. Plus the album title remains ace.

Funny enough that I found the song and decided to post it before I learned that the band is from Berlin. You know, the rainy, dirty and super cold city I'm hanging around in at the moment. Summer wasn't invented here, I'd say!

So this is Berlin. Some people send pictured postcards from LA, I send sounding videos from Berlin. The city looks just like it does in the video. Maybe a bit colder this week, a bit dirtier in general, and absolutely freaking raining today. I've heard that winters are tough here, but nobody said they start in July. Anyway, it's a great city, and a great great song.
