A: The National
S: Hey Rosey
When The National released their last record, Matt Berninger was asked about the band's shift from being more masculine bent to vulnerable songs like this one more recently. Matt stated that the shift happened naturally. That everybody in the band, for obvious reasons, had gotten to know women better since they were single in their 20s and 30s in New York. Back then, Matt found himself wanting to be a Nick Cave or a Tom Waits or a Leonard Cohen. His writing was obsessively conscious of being an awkward man. And then he just became less of an awkward man.
... I was hoping you wouldn't see me like this.
